Interests

I am primarily a syntactician, with research questions concerning typology, the syntax-semantics interface, and morphology. At the fundamental level, I am interested in understanding the human capacity for language and its information structure. My goals are both to create formal models of linguistic competence, as well as using experimental methods to better understand linguistic performance.

Some areas my reseach has touched on include: 

• Coordination and adjunction

• Ellipsis, especially VPE and sluicing.

• The syntactic-semantic properties of exceptive constructions

• The morphosyntax of Amharic case clitic linearization
